| About Us It's a tough world out there. Locally-owned computer businesses are a dying breed. Rock bottom pricing, huge inventories, and ubiquitous, overbearing advertisements help send many people to our larger, corporate competitors for computers and service. But here at Top Notch Computers, we consistently strive to provide higher quality products and services for the lowest prices possible. Countless customers have switched to us because we were able to diagnose and repair a complex problem for less than half the cost they were quoted elsewhere. When asked to diagnose and assess a tricky hardware problem (like a laptop LCD screen or power jack), the big guys usually furnish a repair quote higher than what the computer is worth. If the customer chooses to proceed, the repair is usually outsourced to us or somebody like us. Hundreds of references are available. We have one of the highest repeat and referral customer volumes of any business in the area. Here, the customer is treated like a person and can always reach the owner if they are dissatisfied for any reason. Our warranties are straightforward, unequivocal, and always honored. Many of our services are unique, like free house calls and pickup & delivery. Our prime fundamentals are listed below: Provide customers with the highest quality equipment and most professional service available Stay competitive and provide a venerable example by constantly fighting the shift of the manufacturing and support bases to Asia and exploited third world countries Communicate with customers in a language they can understand Advocate system repair/remanufacture over replacement, unless it is absolutely necessary Conduct business in the most environmentally responsible manner possible After diagnosis, furnish a complete estimate to the customer before commencing with any work
About the Owner: After moving around Tennessee and Michigan a few times, my family settled in Troy, Virginia when I was about 11 years old. My mother handled insurance claims for the big three car companies, and my father was a software engineer. In the 80's and 90's, home computers were rare and quite the luxury. I still can't be sure why I got such a kick out of them from an early age. Perhaps it was the forbidden fruit syndrome (Don't touch that thing, Christian!!!). They were just machines. But hey, accountants find doing people's taxes interesting too (no offense, that's what makes the world go 'round). The crazy passion for technology I had developed at an early age eventually grew and matured. What used to be playing games and starting fires was turning into a potential career. Since I loved what I did so much, I never thought it would be able to blossom into a full time job. Work as I knew it was boring, and since my parents hated their jobs so much, I expected to be no different when I grew up. In college, I changed majors a few times before realizing that this is the only thing I knew how to do. After holding a couple jobs and doing some side gigs, I decided that I liked working for myself better and started the company. At the time I had absolutely no business skills and hadn't finished school yet. All I could do was put myself in the customer's shoes and think, "What do they want?" Well, what would I want in a service-oriented business? The 3 words that came to mind first were good, fast, and cheap. That has pretty much been my philosophy. So with the help of God, my great clients, and my family and friends, our business is now half a thousand regular clients strong. We have mutually beneficial relationships with all of our customers and are happy to be part of the community. -Christian Argie, Owner Christian now lives in Charlottesville, VA and enjoys skiing, tennis, mountain biking, cars & motorcycles, and traveling to far away places. | |
